Posted by BIE-065

The fourth-year students of the Department of Industrial Engineering, Thapathali Campus, are all set to develop a Makwanpur village as the "clean energy village".

"We already completed pre-feasibility study and selected Dhumshi Kharka village of Gogane VDC of Makwanpur as the first site to be developed as the clean energy village," said Prakash Acharya, the brain behind the concept.
The 12-member team of the department already collected about Rs 2.8 million for their project.

"We've collected about the 55 per cent of the total cost and searching donors for the remaining sum," said Sanjib Pudasaini, a team member.
According to the students, the total estimated cost for the project stands at Rs 5.2 million.

There are 45 families belonging to Tamang and Gurung communities residing in the village. It lacks the facility of alternative energy sources. As per the plan, the students will build a central hybridisation system of 4.5 kilowatts power in the village, which is the first of its kind in Nepal
